Event Description

Fresh out of college, Barbara H. Clark arrived in Los Angeles in the 50's looking
forward to a bright future. Delighting in the newly discovered paradise of sunshine and
swimming pools, she was immediately at home. She loved the sights, the sounds, the
people. She had left her past behind on the east coast and started anew with a clean
slate. Oh yes, her past was left behind, but, it wouldn’t stay there. In a series of
revealing stories, she relates how over the years, her past crept back, invading her
present. On Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., the Institute of Musical Arts is
pleased to present "The Past is Always Present," a solo performance of original stories,
by our very own Storyteller, Barbara H. Clark.
As a professional storyteller / spoken word artist, Barbara has been performing her own
original life stories at various venues and events throughout California, since 1996.
Her stories include events from her life in a small east coast community and in Los
Angeles, touching stories of family heritage, and warm profiles of memorable relatives.
While highly entertaining, her stories are also educational and inspirational. Barbara
has received many honors and awards for her contributions to the storytelling
community including the KCET-TV "Unsung Hero of the Year Award" in 2006 for her
work with seniors. She is the creator / instructor of the Tell Me A Story - Storytelling
Workshop, now in it's 13th year, and is the Board Chair and Creative Director of the
Institute of Musical Arts.
If you missed Barbara in "They Walk Among Us" last year, you really owe it to yourself
not to miss "The Past is Always Present". If you saw " They Walk Among Us ", then I
don't have to tell you what a treat Barbara's shows are, and that you definitely have to
see this new show.
You can buy tickets to the show online: https://thepastisalwayspresent.eventbrite.com ,
or by visiting our website: http://www.imalosangeles.com/ . You may also pay by cash,
check or credit card, at the IMA office, while supplies last. As is our custom at the
Institute of Musical Arts, a catered reception will follow the performance.
We really hate the thought of disappointing anyone, so please call us at least TWO
HOURS BEFORE the performance to verify ticket availability if you do not purchase
your ticket in advance. For additional information call: (323) 300-6578.
