Lot 1 music showcases causing a ruckus, just like their mimosas

Lot 1 Cafe - a founding member of EchoParkOnline.com - has gotten quite a following since the restaurant and bar traded in its knick knacks for a stage.

The small room that adjoined the Lot 1 Cafe, Ecos, where you once could buy velvet Elvi and vinyl records, now hosts some of the most passionate independent music in Los Angeles - thanks to another EchoParkOnline.com member, Ashley Jex.

Eileen Leslie, the owner of Lot 1 and Ecos, met Ashley on EchoParkOnline.com and soon formed a partnership that has left us all singing.

"She was selling limited release 7” vinyls and I thought this would be a great avenue for her to showcase those bands on the vinyl," Eileen told Justin Gage of Echo Park Patch and the cool blog Aquarium Drunkard. "After we met, that was it, we liked each other, we had the same idea about accessibility to music and from there we starting reaching out to others who love music as much as we both do."

The music idea was something I'm proud to say I had a small part in as Eileen and I discussed what was missing in Echo Park's thriving music scene over craft beers and tasty hamburgers on the patio of Lot 1.

As Eileen tells Justin: "To have a real community, it’s imperative to appeal to all and make available a venue that will evolve to include more people, not to exclude music lovers ... I’d like to offer an environment where there can be exposure to different types of music to varied demographics in order to create a shared memory with no regard to any demographic (that means older people like me can hang around younger people, vice versa, and just enjoy the experience).

Second Tuesday of each month:Kevin Bronson of Buzzbands LA will host his songwriter series.

Last Thursdays of the month starting in March: Drew Tewksbury of LA Weekly will host his Jazz Club

The Sunset Jubilee, which will occur May 21st and 22nd, will be hosting bands here on March 17th and April 21st

Each Wednesday night is free, no $5 cover.

And don't forget that Lot 1 will be the polling location in Echo Park for two elections (March 8th & May 17th).
