KPCC asks: Are some dog breeds more dangerous than others?

During the last two decades, a specific group of dogs has emerged at the center of major controversy. Pit bulls, rottweilers and German shepherds are some of those that have been labeled as “dangerous” by certain groups because of their use in dog fighting rings and attacks on adults and children.

We invite you to watch the live video stream of KPCC’s special in-person program. Tune in as KPCC crime and safety reporter Erika Aguilar speaks with animal researcher Dr. David Haworth, dog behaviorist Brandon Fouché and PETA’s Lisa Lange at the Crawford Family Forum on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m.

Prior to the program, KPCC’s Public Insight Network wants to hear from you. When it comes to dog bites, do you blame the dog or its owner? Would you cross the street to avoid a threatening-looking dog? What informs your belief? Send us your responses.

We’ll also be hosting a live Twitter chat a half hour before the Aug. 15 event: Tweet your comments with the hashtag #DOGorMAN and follow the conversation @KPCCForum.
