I was thinking what some of my New Year's resolutions might be when I came upon Kelly's list at Echo Park Now.

Her first item: "Read The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse." CHECK. It's on my nightstand.

"The author grew up in the neighborhood and witnessed a much different Echo Park in the ’70s and ’80s. Everyone says it’s amazing. It’s on Oprah’s list, so it’s on ours," Kelly writes.

• "Support local produce and sign up for the CSA" - DONE. We get a delivery every other week from Farm Fresh to You, organic farmers from central California. We eat healthier, save money and found out I love cale, chard and other things I've never bought in a grocery store.

• "Climb all the stairs in Charles Flemings’ book." I've done two - the Avalon-Baxter loop with 695 steps and the 511 steps of Magic Gas, Lucritia, Avalon and Delta (which I'll do a post on this week). “Secret Stairs” is a great book to learn more about where we live, in Echo Park and Los Angeles.

Kelly also reminds us to enjoy the months we have left with Echo Park Lake as the dredging will begin in April and take two years to clean things up.

• "Go to Stories more often." One of my favorite spots for business and pleasure.

• "Publish more articles." Ahhh. Well if we fulfill the previous resolutions, this one will be a piece of cake.
