When it's a nominal fee that includes great programming - workshops, classes, lectures - plus hosted drinks, open bar, giveaways, tote bags, etc AND partial proceeds support great local charities, why not? Also, a nominal entrance fee generally attracts a crowd serious about supporting their community and small local businesses and who want to vote with their wallet. Shoppers at the pay events always spend more than those who go to the free events.
what do you think about charging an entrance fee to a craft fair? We paid to go to Unique LA last year but this year we'll go to the free Renegade LA fair.
