1833 Preston Ave., 90026.

In Echo Park's Elysian Heights today on caravan, this refurbished house built in 1935, an added second story, with a view of downtown off the master bedroom balcony really caught my attention. This four-bedroom, 2.75 bath home is securely gated, has an outside sitting area with a fire pit and Jacuzzi. It's listed with Sotheby's Los Feliz for $869,000 !…

1251 Elysian Park Ave., 90026

Today on caravan, I saw this one-bedroom, one-bath home built in 1923 and completely refurbished. This is the perfect pied-a-terre for someone who works in downtown L.A.! Located north of Sunset Blvd., the private, fenced-in yard has space for three cars with a wood deck off the living room. It's listed with Shooploop, Inc., for…

Echo Park Property Activity.

In Echo Park these days, $500,000 will not even get you a single family residence with a yard anymore. Since September 26th of this year until this writing, the least expensive single family home north of Sunset Blvd. sold October 9th for $600,500-- according to the Westside MLS.

That was a two bedroom, two bath home at 1625 Montana Street, built in 1922 and totally…

Ugly Apple at the Lyric-Hyperion Theatre & Cafe.

October 8 marked the first performance of a one-woman play by accomplished performer Katjana Gerz at Lyric-Hyperion Theatre & Cafe in Silver Lake.

In the less than hour-long play, directed by Carsen Labella, Gerz portrays a young, not quite 30-year-old woman from Germany who is single and lives alone in a messy apartment in Los Angeles' Miracle Mile district. Although a young adult, she is still dealing with issues from a painful childhood and adolescence. Introspective,…

City Council Candidate Forum at Echo Park's Bedrock L.A. recording studio

On April 18th,  the Bedrock. L.A  recording studio was an interesting venue for Los Angeles City Council District 13 candidate Mitch  O'Farrell and District 1 candidate Jose Gardea to state their positions to area residents before the upcoming May 21st election runoff.

The music studio building at 1623 Allesandro Street at the west end of Echo Park had parties and recording sessions going on. In one room, assorted cakes , pies, and cookies covered a table before you got…

Los Angeles City Council Districts 1 and 13 Candidates Forum.

February 7th was a very interesting evening at Williams Hall on the historic Barlow Hospital campus in Echo Park. Los Angeles City Council Districts 1 and 13 fall within Echo Park's borders, and the 10 candidates sat at the front of the room in anticipation of the upcoming March 5, 2013 election, taking turns telling the audience of at least 80 what they will do for the community, if elected.

Echo Park area residents had submitted questions to the candidates. Among the issues…
