Cal State L.A. students named as Amgen Scholars

Cal State L.A. science students Emily Aguirre, Hugo Avila, and Angela Madira were selected to conduct research at three prestigious universities under the Amgen Scholars Program.

The 10-week program allowed Aguirre, an Echo Park resident, along with Hugo Avila and Angela Madira to participate in cutting-edge research at UCLA, Stanford University and Harvard University, respectively, under the Amgen Foundation program.

3.8 Square Mile Proposed Safety Zone Gang Injunction Hearing.

     Community residents, leaders, activists, police officers, and members of City Attorney Mike Feuer's office all got together Monday evening, August19th, in the auditorium at  Holy Virgin Mary Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Micheltorena Street to talk about a proposed street gang injunction to combat area crime.

The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council's Public Safety Committee is hosting a public forum regarding the Glendale Blvd. Corridor (Echo Park) Gang Injunction Project.
